Welcome!

My name is Deborah Rodrigues, but most people call me Deebs. I am a Brazilian-American children's book illustrator and online art teacher with the goal of inspiring kids and teens to imagine and create their own stories. Inspired by my upbringing—spending more time outdoors than indoors with my five siblings—I create cute cartoon illustrations that celebrate the connection between nature and people.
My Story
Influenced by storytellers and illustrators like Beatrix Potter and Beverly Cleary and the beautiful nature surrounding the town where I grew up in, I strive to capture the magic of childhood and the beauty of the natural world.
I gained experience and skills at Grand Central Atelier in New York City, where I studied academic fine art, and later expanded my expertise in storytelling, narrative art, and character design at the Joe Kubert School.

Since 2020, I have been successfully teaching art online to kids and teens, guiding them in drawing, painting, and developing their unique artistic voices. My teaching not only allows me to share my love for art but also fuels my creativity as an illustrator.

When I'm not illustrating or teaching, I enjoy birdwatching, reading, and taking long winding walks in nature.
